Nature haven in the middle of the city
It is exceptionally interesting, how this nature haven on the shore of the Gulf of Finland has preserved in the middle of Vyborg, where Finnish SRV is building residential area "Little Finland". The city center, Vyborg castle and Monrepos natural park can be well observed from cape, where this residential complex is located.
Little Finland lays in the North-Est part of Vyborg in Central District. Vyborg's inhabitants well know this place by its historical name Papula, which is situated between Railway bridge and Raduga bay. Those days, when Vyborg belonged to Finland, Papula became very popular among citizens due to beautiful park that was established on Papula Mount in 1886. The park was planned by garden architect Rydberg from Stockholm and planted by Chief Gardener of Vyborg Karl Matias Ramström.
Little Finland has high transport accessibility. Papula is connected to the city center by automotive and pedestrian bridge over the railway trackes and can be easily reached by car. Vyborg railway station square can be reached by feet within 20 minutes.
Using regular lines No. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 of public bus transport one can easily get to other districts of Vyborg. Nearest bus stop is only 5 minutes walk from Little Finland.
International highway Scandinavia that connects Russia to Finland is going though the center of Vyborg and thus is very close to Little Finland. You can get by car to the nearest major Finnish city Lappeenranta in 50 minutes, and to Saint Petersburg in 1,5 hours. High-speed train Allegro gets you to Helsinki only in two hours.
